Quick Portrait

Well, here is a first attempt in a long time at drawing in charcoal. The last time I used charcoal on any of my drawings was back in high school when I took my first life drawing class. Personally I prefer not to use charcoal simply because it's too messy. For my figure drawings I stick with a regular pencil, mainly a 6B pencil will do. Anyway, this was done from a photo clipped out of a magazine. There was so much detail in the face that I needed to do some sort of drawing from it.

A few sketches I did at the park and shopping center. These were done in pen and there about 1 minute drawings. I really tried pushing each drawing trying to add more character to each. Overall they look o.k.

The idea was to animate a kid with gorilla characteristics. Just a personal project in development. Still need to work on character designs a bit more. Not too happy with the overall design of this character. More drawings coming soon.

Zoo Animals

This weekend I was able to take a trip down to L.A. Here are a few sketches I did at the L.A. zoo. I spent about an hour there since the zoo gets very crowded on a Saturday and with too many people looking over my shoulder and asking questions, it's really difficult to finish a drawing. These were done in pen and there about 1-2 minute drawings.

Jerk the Rabbit #1

Over the past year I've been in the process of developing a five-issue comic book series. I've included a couple pages from Jerk the Rabbit issue 1. The first two issues are complete, but I'm thinking of waiting till the third issue is done to start publishing. I do have several sample copies of the first issue available. Just recently I found about twenty copies stashed away in my garage. Last year I did a print run of about two hundred copies for promotional purposes. If anyone is interested in buying a copy, please let me know. Keep checking back, I will post new stuff as soon as a get a new scanner.
